Dr. Helton treats many men and women from the Portland community who are injured on the job. According to the National Safety Council, the most usual kind of work injury is musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), which include trauma to the muscles, nerves, tendons, ligaments and joints. MSDs account for more than one third of all workplace accidents.
The most common type of MSD is a strain, which is trauma to a muscle or tendon. Strains can be caused by lifting, pushing or pulling too much weight, or by repetitive movements. Other typical MSDs are carpal tunnel syndrome, tendinitis and back discomfort.
These injuries can be stopped by using correct lifting techniques, taking frequent breaks and using ergonomic devices. Employers can also help put a stop to injuries by providing their employees educational data on how to avoid getting hurt at work.
Back pain and injuries are a common problem that Dr. Helton sees in our #Ciyt# office and we also work with people who have shoulder or neck discomfort.
If you are suffering from a work injury or accident and live in the Portland region, give Dr. Helton a call and schedule an appointment today. We will work with you to create a treatment plan that will help you recover and do our best to get you back on the job as soon as we can!
